"I love these two because they are not afraid to let loose and have a good time. Their day was a party from beginning to end and that's exactly what Sydney + Logan wanted! My favorite detail was Sydney's gown...the lace, the low-back, the full skirt...COME ON! She truly looked like a princess and her day was nothing short of a fairytale.
The entire day complimented this bride and groom so well. It was laid back, full of life, elegant, and so much fun. Their silliness shines through in many of these photos captured by Margaret Taylor Photography. I hope you enjoy this recap of their beautiful day!"

"Maria + Banks have such a sweet love for each other! You can tell by being around them that they are each other's safe haven. When together, they both laugh a little louder, dance a little harder, & smile a little brighter. Their first look was one of my favorite moments (let's face it...when is it not?). As soon as they saw each other, it was like a weight was lifted off of them both. The pressure was off just knowing that no matter what happened on that day, they got to walk away with each other. Sweet love!
Maria wanted a simple, spring wedding with fresh, clean details that honored her family and their traditions. She wore her mother's wedding gown redesigned by the Dress Doctor (can you say stunning?). A family collection of antique bottles and simple blooms made the perfect centerpieces. It was a night I'll never forget (mostly because this huge Greek family was just that much fun) and I'm so thankful that I was able to be a part of Maria + Banks' day! Cheers, guys!"

"Jordan + Shawn have my heart. They share the sweetest love full of giggles and Jesus and joy, and I just can't get over how that radiated throughout their entire wedding day. Jordan is a sucker for the details (a girl after my own heart) so we had a blast with all those small touches. Pastel blues and lots of greenery and neutrals set the stage for this spring wedding and I think this is one for the story books. Cheers to Jordan + Shawn! We love you guys!"

"Gabrielle + Will compliment each other so well. She keeps him grounded. He's her safe place to laugh and let go. I think my favorite part of their day was the first look. They were both so nervous, but as soon as they saw each other they both breathed a sigh of relief and found comfort in each other's arms as they realized the gravity of what that day was all about. The Lord's presence filled the day and I pray His joy be in their hearts for all the days to come. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Gaskill!"
In place of a unity candle, Gabbi + Will had their parents cover their marriage in prayer during their ceremony. Such a special moment!

"Amber + Kyle share the sweetest love. They reflect Christ's love for us so well to each other and everyone around them. Kyle is kindhearted and full of jokes, and Amber has the most tender spirit and infectious laugh. These two were made for each other and I am so thankful to have been a part of their wedding day!
This downtown soiree took place in a 120 year old building. I instantly fell in love with the history and charm of the venue and really wanted it to be the focal point. Antique oil lamps and lush greens added the perfect touch to the building. I have so many favorites from this night full of beautiful details, intimate worship, and lots of laughter. Wishing these sweet souls a lifetime of love!"

"Deanna & Blake are two of my very best friends, and it was such an honor to be a part of their wedding. This was a day full of prayer, laughter, and so much love - just like any other day with them. As I look through these images, I'm just in awe of our God and what a gift we have in marriage.
The details I'm still smitten with: Deanna & Blake's first prayer (still teary...), the cranberry bridesmaid dresses, the DIY centerpieces, her princess gown and cascading bouquet, that brick fireplace, the adorable ring bearer (!!!), and the way this bride & groom look at each other. Sweet, sweet love! I hope y'all enjoy!"
Deanna's sister, Brandi, didn't have a chance to dance with their father at her wedding. So Deanna surpised her with their own moment to have a special dance. SO sweet!

"Couples like Mallory & Scott are why I started Southern Styled Events. The way she looks at him...the way he embraces her... Their love reflects the Lord's love for us and it is such a beautiful thing to witness His plan for their lives take such a huge step in all of 7 hours.
I'm still swooning over the details of this perfect day. Mallory & Scott opted for a neutral color palette with pops of gold and stunning details, which is basically what my dreams are made of. Mallory was so gracious with her trust in letting me take the wheel with the decor and styling. This is one wedding I'll never forget and I hope you enjoy reliving it with me!"
From Mallory: "I didn't have to worry about anything. Kelsea and her team kept everyone calm and stepped in when I didn't feel comfortable approaching vendors about specific details. She handled every curve ball thrown her way, kept her cool, and didn't let me see any of the craziness - which definitely calmed my nerves on the big day and helped to keep my family calm and happy as well."

I was so excited when Borrowed and Blue, a locally-focused online wedding resource, reached out to me with a Q&A to give couples everything they need to know about our event planning services. Feel free to answer some of the questions yourselves in the comments!
Here’s our Q&A with Borrowed & Blue:
If you could possibly narrow it down, what would be your favorite moment of a wedding day?
My favorite moment has to be the bride and groom’s first kiss as husband and wife. It’s such a special moment of both relief and elation as everything they’ve been planning for months has finally come to fruition and they get to walk away facing life together as one in Him.
Describe your event aesthetic in three words.
Elegant. Personal. Custom.
The first thing you ask when you sit down with a couple?
The first thing I usually ask is, “What do you want your wedding to feel like?” This gives me a solid foundation on which to build their custom aesthetic in a way that shows off who they are as a couple and helps them remember their day as just very “them.”
Top three pieces of advice for couples who just got engaged?
GET A COORDINATOR! Set a specific budget (and stick to it). And think big picture! I always love when a bride tells me what she wants people to remember about her big day and trusts me with the details to make it happen.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite thing about what I do is knowing I’ve played even a small part in bringing a bride’s vision to life. Many women have dreamed of their wedding day their entire lives, and knowing I helped make her dream a reality gives me a fulfillment unlike any other.
What’s the best thing about having your wedding in Birmingham?
The best thing about having a wedding in Birmingham is that it’s so convenient to big city OR intimate country. There are so many upscale, chic venues downtown as well as beautiful, rustic barns right outside the city—and many others in between. It doesn’t matter what your style is, Birmingham has the perfect venue!
Most important detail of wedding decor?
I would say it depends on the couple. I’ve had brides whose main focus is the music, while others is décor. Mine was definitely the food (your girl can eat!). Whatever is most important to the bride and groom becomes what is most important to me.
The celebrity wedding you wish yo planned?
Witney Carson’s winter nuptials, hands down! That Rivini gown…the rustic-elegant aesthetic…those beautiful jewel tones…drooling over here!
Your thoughts on DIY weddings?
I think DIY touches add so much personality to a wedding; but when every detail is DIY, it can be very overwhelming! Don’t try to overreach and DIY things like food or flowers. Leave that to the professionals and stick to things like programs and favors…you’ll be happy you did!
What would your ideal tablescape look like?
I love a runner made of lush flowers bedded by lots of greenery, ornate flatware and white china atop a stunning charger, surrounded by assorted candlesticks, all anchored by a beautiful wooden table.
What has been your most unique request from a client?
I once had a bride ask if we could design a Star Wars themed reception. I was actually super bummed when I never heard back from her!
Your favorite of all the Birmingham wedding venues?
It’s impossible to pick a favorite! I will say, though, that venues with lots of wood and white make for the perfect backdrop for anyone’s style.
Tell the story of the biggest day-of disaster and how you swooped in to save the day.
I arrived at one wedding as a day-of coordinator and the bride had purchased wholesale flowers (a great option!), but had no one to arrange them. My team and I got to work, and I have to say...those centerpieces turned out better than we could have expected! Her wedding was so beautiful.
The most important part of wedding planning?
I think the most important part of wedding planning is choosing a planner. You need someone who understands the stresses of wedding planning and is in tune to what is important to you. If you have that, you don’t have to stress about anything!
Describe your dream wedding.
My dream wedding would be an exhilarating night full of great food, special details, amazing decor, and fun dancing with my favorite people!
Thanks again to Borrowed & Blue for the Q&A!
Mallory was introduced to me through Katie with Be Light Photography, and I knew as soon as we met that we were going to have so much fun together! I helped style their engagement shoot (which they made so easy!) and I don’t think we stopped laughing at all! I cannot wait for their big day this fall. Congratulations, Mallory and Scott!
Krystal and Michael were such a joy to work with! We love her naked cake and fall florals. And can we talk about those gold accents? We loved making Krystal's dream come to life. Congrats to these sweet newlyweds!
