When I initially asked Chasidy what she envisioned for her wedding venue she said that she wanted something special. One look at Iron City and she was hooked! In addition to the rocker venue, the unique dress and her choice to have her long-time friend Landen be a Bridesman, Chasidy's personality was present in the colorful linens, the robust florals, the indulgent food and the moody choice for photography. This bride was determined not to let anything deter her from what she wanted on her big day and the results were amazing! Chasidy's stunning bejeweled bodice ball gown in the palest shade of dusty blush. Chasidy borrowed a stunning shawl from her grandmother's closet to add a personal touch to her Bridal portraits. Just look at the joy on her face! These two have been friends since grade school and their warm connection was palpable. Thank you, Landen, for bringing so much warmth to the day! Why have one party location for your wedding day when you could have two? Chasidy and Patrick's ceremony was in the event space at Avondale Brewing Company. The windows face west, allowing all that gorgeous sunset lighting to come pouring in to share in the festivities. Better still, the bar was open for the guests to get the party started! The couple paused for a few portraits with Ryland and then it was on to Iron City for the reception! With special thanks to:
Iron City Birmingham, especially their event planner, Michelle, who is one of the best in the business! Avondale Brewing Company and their event planner, Sarah, who helped us with the sweet ceremony! Ryland Lovvorn of RyloCreative for the beautiful photography; Suzanne of Stems and Styles for the flowers which were PERFECTION! Christian of Pen and Pastry for the cakes, including the grooms Frat symbol cake!! AHHH! He was so happy! Barrett of Décor to Adore for the burgundy, blush and luscious gold linens; AG Lighting for the chandelier; Cahaba Brewing for the Rehearsal Dinner space; Taco Mama for the Rehearsal Dinner catering.

Tina was introduced to Mick by her twin sister's boyfriend. The two hit it off immediately! After dating for four years they were engaged and planning a wedding in their home town of Troy, Alabama. It turned out to be a perfect summer day! Getting ready with her Bridesmaids and her Maid of Honor and twin sister, Kat; Traditional Hawaiian wedding leis, as worn by her mother at her wedding. Tina's mother, Zeny, who is of Hawaiian descent, says she knew from the start the Mick was the one! Zeny had me laughing all day! This family is so close and it shows! Like Father, like son. Aren't they adorable?! Tina had five of her closest friends, her new sister-in-law and Kat by her side. The Bride's Besties. The flowers were bursting with blush roses, white hydrangeas, greenery and my favorite: thistle! Mick and Seth have been friends for years and now they will be brothers-in-law! Mick chose not to do "first look" with Tina because he wanted to see her for the first time as she walked down the aisle towards him. His reaction was just what any bride would hope for. Cue the Kleenex! The Groom danced with his mother and the Father of the Bride sang to his daughter for a little something special. The Guest Book! The Bride and Groom, adorned with more Leis, cut the cake. Krispy Creme donuts and milk were served as an extra treat. Do you see this? I love all the faces! Sorority sisters! So many thanks to The Studio, Abby of Veritatis Photography, Tammy from A Catered Affair, and so many other family and friends who helped with set up, take down, and everything in between!
The spring of 2018 brought me something wonderful: a nephew. Well, he may not be by blood but he is by all other counts. One of my best friends had a dream come true when she found out she was pregnant for a second time. She had wished so ardently for a bigger family and was finally so blessed to see that wish coming true! She and I had not known each other during her first pregnancy and so I had some making up to do with this second cherub. The event was held at The Nest in Avondale. Even though the baby we were expecting was a second boy, that didn't mean this shower had to be dull or hosed down in blue. I dialed up the jewel tones in the napkins, florals and cake to give a rich juxtaposition with the room's monochromatic industrial feel. Is she not THE MOST??? A portrait from Summer's maternity shoot taken by her dear friend, Kim. Kim is the genius behind all of Summer's family and maternity shoots, as well as her birth photography and the boys' annual portraits. Perhaps my favorite detail were the hand-painted oyster shell place cards done up in shades of turquoise and edged in gold. This shower was meant to reflect the personality of the Mother. It was a departure from the norm of simply focusing on the sex of the baby. After all, who is really doing all the work here? For food we went with an explosion of indulgent finger foods such as Salmon, Cucumber and Cream Cheese bites, Cape Cod Chicken Salad Croissants, Jalepeno Pimento Scalloped Sandwiches, Cranberry and Cream Pinrolls, Prosciutto and Cantaloupe Morsels, as well as a full Charcuterie Board and Fruits with Dip or Clotted Cream. Embroidery Hoops in various sizes were hung together and bedecked in greenery and a few flowers to create a backdrop for Summer to take photos with and open gifts in front of. Being an Anglophile, Summer has always loved Afternoon Tea. Naturally we had to incorporate this tradition into her shower. China was brought in from a family friend. Teas in fun flavors were found at our favorite Trader Joe's. Geode acrylic boxes from Hobby Lobby helped carry the theme and jewel toned color scheme. Sugared lemon slices were offered as a sweet garnish. Gold and glass terrariums housed our jewel toned florals. Mercury glass votives also came to play. Summer and her hostesses. It was such a special joy and privilege to help with this event! A few weeks later, precious Baby Whit came into this world. His cheeks are now one of my favorite things evaaaaa.
